  42.        If you are installing this product for the first time, the
  43.        subsystems marked ``default'' are the ones that are
  44.        installed if you use the ``go'' menu item.  To install a
  45.        different set of subsystems, use the ``install,''
  46.        ``remove,'' ``keep,'' and ``step'' commands in _i_n_s_t to
  47.        customize the list of subsystems to be installed, then
  48.        select the ``go'' menu item.

  84.        IRIX.  You do not need to use the miniroot. Refer to the
  85.        _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e for complete installation

  88.        2.4  _P_r_e_r_e_q_u_i_s_i_t_e_s

  90.        Your workstation must be running at least release IRIX 5.3
  91.        or IRIX 6.1 in order to use Release 1.25 of this product.
  92.        IRIX 5.2 and 6.0 will not install this version.

  94.        2.5  _C_o_m_p_a_t_i_b_i_l_i_t_y
  95.  
  96.        SoftWindows 1.25 uses a different scheme then previous
  97.        versions of SoftWindows to store the C: drive container
  98.        file. A new .hdf file by the name of WIN31-username.hdf will
  99.        be created in each users home directory. (where 'username'
  100.        is replaced by the actual user's login name). The old
  101.        $SWINHOME/MS-WIN-31.hdf file will be saved as
  102.        /usr/lib/SoftWindows/SAVED-MS-WIN-31.hdf, and it can be
  103.        mounted using the D: drive option to recover needed data.

  105.        2.6  _C_o_n_f_i_g_u_r_a_t_i_o_n__F_i_l_e_s
  106.  
  107.        This section lists installed files that can be edited to
  108.        contain site-specific changes.
  109.  
  110.        SoftWindows maintains a system configuration file
  111.        /usr/lib/SoftWindows/sys.swinconfig.  This file can be used
  112.        to effect the operational behavior of all users running
  113.        SoftWindows on the system.
  114.  
  115.        The file $SWINHOME/swin_hints_viewed contains a list of
  116.        users that have seen the swin_hints file.  If the swin_hints
  117.        file is changed, you can empty the viewed file so that users
  118.        will see the new swin_hints the next time they run
